Abstract:
This article attempts to bring into focus a global view on the measures taken to solve the Spanish banking crisis, giving special attention to the big international private equity funds in their role as investors in impaired assets and bank business. This analysis comes from the point of view of the two sectors interested in generating capital by liquidating assets left behind from the crisis: Sareb and the banks. Considering this, the main points illustrated in the article talk about the transactions made by private equity funds as much with Sareb as with the banks, conluding with the assessment of their contribution to banking crisis resolution and an attempt to put into context what is left to be done.
Keywords: banking crisis, impaired assets, real state loans, forclosed assets, private equity funds, SAREB, FAB.
